Library of Congress: Farm Security Administration
This collection of photographs from the Farm Security Administration’s Office of War Information Photograph Collection includes extensive black-and-white prints, as well as black-and-white and color film negatives and transparencies. The collection covers American life between 1935 and 1944 and represents three stages. The first captures the initial documentation of cash loans made to individual farmers by the Resettlement Administration, as well as the construction of planned suburban communities. The second captures the lives of sharecroppers in the South and migratory agricultural workers in the Midwestern and Western states. The final stage documents both rural and urban conditions across the United States and World War II mobilization efforts.
